Yasmin's Going To Keep On Dazzling

Time, perhaps, for the likes of Jean Paul Gaultier and John Galliano to prepare their catwalks for brigades of OAPs.  Yasmin Le Bon, the 15-year veteran of the modelling industry, is determined to continue well past her sell-by date.

"Writers and actors keep working until they die, why shouldn't models?" a remarkably youthful Yasmin, 36, opined at Tuesday night's Andrew Martin International Designer of the Year Awards at London's Victoria and Albert Museum.  "Designers are stupid if they think you can sell clothes to a 60-year-old modelled by a 16-year-old.  I still need to pay the bills.  If someone offers me a job and good money, I take it.  Do you know how much it will cost me to put my three kids through boarding school?"

As to modelling prospects for her children Amber, 11, Saffron, nine, and Tallulah, six, Yasmin (spouse of superannuated Duran Duran singer Simon) is cautious.  "It's too early to pigeonhole them.  They'll do whatever makes them happy.  Simon and I won't push them into modelling or singing.  I definitely don't want them to be celebrity models with nothing to say.  There are too many around already."  Yasmin, I must add, diplomatically declined to name any contenders.
